Zoey Turns 1!

Zoey Victoria is 1!

Here is Zoey's hospital picture, back when she was my little 8 lb, no named baby. I think we finally named her on the last day. Zoey, Chloe, Maya, Kaia, Quinn or Sasha. She is definitely my Zoeygirl. I gotta tell ya, it's a funny thing when you have a baby growing inside you for so long and when you finally meet her there is not one little thing that even slightly resembles you. If I hadn't been there for the delivery myself, I would've thought they brought me a Mexican baby! (You have to admit, she looks a little Mexican in the pic below). Caleb, of course, has never looked like me either, but he is the spitting image of his Dad, even from birth. Zoey has always had a look of her own. A little like Byron, but she is definitely her own person. It's always so amazing to me how much they change in the first year. In my children's cases, it appears their nationalities "change". :) (Guatamalan, Puerto Rican, Greek, I've had people guess them all, even Sri Lanka.) One thing is for sure, she is a beauty and she is all mine!

Zoey now weighs 20.5 lbs and is 29 inches long. She is between the 25th and 50th percentile for height and weight. She is still so close to walking. She likes to use just one of our hands to walk. She stands on her own. She can say about 10 words, (mama, dada, nana, papa, car, goal, bye bye, baby, bubbles..I'm sure I'm forgetting some). After a year of breastfeeding, she is now weaned and sleeping through the night! I thought this day would NEVER come!! She loves to play peek a boo, give high five's and blow kisses. I think her favorite thing to play with is matchbox cars. Go figure. I had her picture taken on her birthday. Here are just a few of them. She just melts my heart!

Princess Zoey's first birthday cake. Yes, Caleb calls her Princess Zoey, because she was a fairy princess for Halloween. He also calls her Little Feet and every night he kisses "little feet". We also call her Zoeygirl and Miss Victoria, Grandpa especially likes to call her that.

Wasn't sure if she'd know what to do with her smash cake. Unlike Caleb, she didn't need any help.

Just when I thought we were all done, Zoey was going back for more! And she wasn't just playing in it...she was eating it and loving it.

As I was taking her out of her high chair, she decided it was a great time to play peek-a-boo and with icing in hands she covered her eyes and wiped it across her face!

One of her favorite gifts was this pool of balls. Both of them loved it!! Thank you, Uncle David and Aunt Harley!
